Sir Kit's Quest

The Room

Transforming a dull area into a castle

The idea came from a literacy course aimed at making literacy fun and more interesting for children especially boys, I decided to turn an area in school into a castle.

Getting started

I wanted to transform this rather lifeless area into something more interesting and colourful. As I could see the brick outline I thought the castle idea would suit the area well.

Preparation

First I went to B&Q and bought their own brand of matt white emulsion paint-this I added blue poster paint for the sky.

The walls

I added black poster paint to the white to make grey colour for the walls of the castle.

The turrets

I made the turret at the top by cutting a length of paper to size, which then I painted a darker shade of grey. I then secured it to the wall.

The doorway

I painted a doorway on to a sheet and used a curtain track so that it could be moved. I also got a dragon for the side from Ikea.
